Biography

Brandon Ross, Worldwide music producer, recording engineer and 1985 Music founder, is not only an undeniable hitmaker he is a songwriter under the name Plan B ‘85.

At age 13, with an entrepreneurial spirit and a dream, Ross cut his first demo then quickly began producing, recording and writing his own material paying homage to his musical influences Queen Latifah, Naughty by Nature and Kriss Kross among others. By the time he reached adulthood, Ross started a production company with business partners Will Brown and Daniel Thomas. Together, the trio formed Time is Money Entertainment and collectively produced and wrote records for various artists.

In 2004, shortly after he moved to Miami, opportunity came knocking. Ross signed his first artist-production deal with independent record label TGL Entertainment. He was featured on the lead single, “Boom” off Tilo The Godlion’s self-titled debut album. As that single blazed the charts, Ross and Tilo toured Southern Florida performing at hot events like the Playboy Party at the Hard Rock Casino.

In 2008, with plans to cement himself in music history, Ross established his own music production company 1985 Music. Shortly thereafter, Ross mounted a solo career by releasing his critically-acclaimed debut EP, “The B-Side,” under his own imprint. As a testament to his universal appeal, “The B-Side” racked up more than 1 million streams and ultimately set the stage for more success to come. Today, 1985 Music boasts hundreds of beats in its ever-growing library and offers original production, mixing and mastering services to artists worldwide. Hungry for growth and destined for new territory, Ross soon branched off into music licensing and music placement on well-known television networks like OWN, MTV, VH1 and Spike TV. His music also landed on reality shows like “Guy Code”, “Basketball Wives” and “Black Ink Crew: Chicago.” Putting his music mastery to good use, Ross helmed the field audio, post-sound editing and mixing for the New-Jersey based film, “King of Newark” (2016), that starred Hollywood heavyweights Alonzo Herran Jr., Clifton Powell, Miguel Nunez and Omar Gooding. Off the success of “King of Newark,” Ross scored his first film, “Best of Two Evils,” which earned the award for best short film at the Charlotte Black Film Festival. And in 2018 with a growing reputation for excellence, Ross also mastered soundtracks for feature films “Papillon” and “Final Portrait.”
Summer of 2022 Ross jumped on board to become the Lead composer for Season 5 of Tyler Perry's Sistas on BET. Looking ahead, this quintessential beatmaker, production guru and mixing master will continue his groundbreaking work for artists and reputable platforms.
